I’m a TV news anchor. For years, I’ve reported stories about wonderful, heartwarming, ugly-cry-inducing things. I’ve also reported stories about controversial, infuriating, saddening, sickening things. And for years, as I’ve reported these stories, I’ve had to wear the mask of removed professionalism required of an objective journalist. It’s not always easy, but it is necessary.
